A song I first heard through another blogger this month, called "O Come, All You Unfaithful" hit me in a tender and needed way. This season doesn't feel so joyful to me - lots of reasons for the heaviness and brokenness. This song made me feel seen and yet encouraged. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-QHbpYjuIg
O.KAY. I had never heard of this but just listened to the link you shared and oh my goodness. So good. It brought this post to mind... maybe you've seen it? It's been circling IG Stories this week. https://www.instagram.com/p/CmJkbQVLyXY/
I was coming here to say this one too! I heard it last year and immediately started crying. It took me a LOT of listens before I didn’t cry, haha. Such a beautiful, raw song.
That was the song I was going to say! I also love Glory in the Darkest Place. This season is typically very dark for me and these songs have been a gift since they came out 2 years ago.
When I first heard the combination of Ding Dong Merrily on High / O Come All Ye Faithful sung by the 1988 casts of two Broadway musicals I was brought to my knees and had goosebumps (a.k.a. chillbumps) from head to toe. If this link does not bring you to your knees, then you are not human. Musical theatre people sure know how to sing. This is on a loop in my house right now. Enjoy! https://youtu.be/DejEsvWuoyM
I have listened to “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus” several times this Christmas season. It has been a great comfort as I try to find my rest in Jesus my hope.
My favorite Christmas songs this year come from a little known artist named Josh Lavender. You can find him on Spotify, and his EP titled Eden is Open, is my favorite listen this year. 3 songs for the season of Advent/Christmas.

Thank you for sharing that. I'm not on Instagram much, so I hadn't yet seen it.

Here’s the link for Glory in the Darkest Place https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ILtnuK6UWGE
Calming, honest, beautiful.
Thank you for sharing this song as well. I'm sorry you also have reasons for this to be a challenging time. Know I see you in that.
Thank you. That’s so very kind. I hope you feel seen as well.
I subscribed to all the things because I love all the things you produce. Your words are soul music.
My favorite Christmas song is Christmas Isn't Christmas Till it Happens in Your Heart.

Jane, thank you! How very kind.
Like you, I have a half-dozen favorite Christmas songs. ;) Here is my short-list:
- Lauren Daigle's "Noel"
- Lauren Daigle's "Light of the World"
- Michael W. Smith's "Gloria" (it doesn't officially feel like the Christmas season until I hear this)
- Amy Grant's "Breath of Heaven"
- Point of Grace's "Let There Be Light"
and so many more. My Christmas playlist on YouTube is here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLtXg9K3TLX1ktjGniqsHYXTPc0ctGbZWi
"Let There Be Light" holds a VERY special place in my heart. Danced to it in several Christmas shows growing up. :)
I have an enormous list, but one of my more recently added favorites is Marc Martel’s “How Many Kings”
Oh yes, this one seems to make the rounds on the radio each Christmas!
