All The Things: Our October Book!
I'm all kinds of uncomfortable, but, ask and you shall receive.
Never before, and quite possibly never again…
I feel all kinds of uncomfortable, but you specifically requested this when I asked about books you’d like to see in All The Things this fall or in 2025…
And then, after I shared this:
88% of you voted yes.
Welp.
And so: ask and you shall receive.
According to my camera roll, I finished the very last edit at 4:52pm on Halloween. A parade of princesses and firefighters and superheroes walked by outside the coffee shop as I blinked back tears, smiling at the cursor blinking back next to “The End.”
If we’re going to chat about EIN (and if I’m going to feel a little upside down about it), Halloween-ish/October makes sense. I absolutely hate the phrase “pick your brain” (just, gross) but if you’ve ever wanted to send a message saying can I pick your brain about writing/publishing this is your moment, my friend.
We can talk through the book writing and/or publishing process, designing the cover (holy moly it was A Whole Thing and also, never again thank you amen), things I wish I had done differently/would change (!!), and of course — as with every All The Things Author Chat — the themes and chapters within, a bit like a book club.
Our October Book: Even If Not: Living, Loving, and Learning in the in Between by Kaitlyn Bouchillon (lol hi, it’s me)
📒 Book description:
Is God good when life isn’t? Is He kind when things fall apart — or never even happen in the first place? Where is God when you’re living a chapter of your story that you never would have chosen?
Life often looks different than what we hoped, planned, or expected. The phone rings in the middle of the night, the test results come back, or the relationship falls apart and we’re left disappointed, lonely, heartbroken and disillusioned.
After a brain tumor diagnosis at age seventeen, Kaitlyn Bouchillon came face to face with the first of what would be several “even if not” moments. It’s one thing to say God is able. But when the rubber meets the road, will we still say He’s good even if He doesn’t come through like we know that He could?
With honesty and vulnerability from her own in betweens, Kaitlyn will help you:
Choose hope for tomorrow when today feels like a question mark.
Find strength to believe even when you can’t see and faith to hold on when it all feels too far gone.
Shift your suspicion that God isn’t kind or present to the truth found in Scripture that on every single page of the story, God is with us and working all things for our good.
Discover truths to hold onto when doubt threatens to overwhelm.
Begin to say “even if not” in the messy middle of your own in betweens.
📚 Book links:
I think most of you already have a copy, so hopefully this timing not only fits well with finishing the manuscript in October, but also helps save a little $ heading into the holidays!
If it’s not on your shelf, though, here are several quick links for ordering. Don’t forget to check your library (if they don’t have it, most libraries have a form on their website where you can request they purchase a copy) or local bookstore!

📖 Suggested reading schedule:
Of course, read as it works for you! I know a few of y’all prefer to read the entire book the week before the call, while others space it out, reading a little at a time over the course of a month.
Our October Author Chat will be toward the end of the month, giving as much time as possible for everyone to read without feeling rushed.
