Thursday Things #82
I fell down a rabbit hole, tried a (delicious) summer-time recipe in January (as one does), and discovered a new favorite song in a tattoo studio. 4 good things for you: ๐๐ฅฃ๐๐ต
Welcome! Every otherย Thursday, I share a handful of things I'm loving, reading, watching, listening to or just discovered.ย In other words . . . what I'd text you about if I had your number or mention if we met up for coffee! I'm so glad you're here. :)
Hey, hi, hello!
We made it to Thursday once again (look at us go) and I donโt know about you, but I feel like that deserves a prize. A medal. A treat.
(I can always come up with a reason for a treat.)
There are four Things for you below (including an actual treat because yes please)โand as always, at the end thereโs a space for you to comment with a Good Thing or two. Canโt wait to hear what you pass along!
Magnolia Bakery banana pudding.
Listen. Listen.
If youโve had this before in NYC or Chicago, you know. Itโs been a few years since I was there, so I canโt say 100%, but to the best of my memory this tastes exactly the same. If not, itโs real close and thatโs enough for me.
I made it for the first time Tuesday, crossed my fingers that it was decent, and took it to Bible Study.
Well. Letโs just say I came home and washed the empty bowl.
Hereโs the recipe. You can thank me later. ๐
You can rest.
Last weekend I spent a few hours trying to distract one of my best friends with all manner of random stories while she got a (beautiful + meaningful) tattoo. About an hour and a half in, a song began to play in the background and Iโm not even kidding you, I started googling the lyrics by the end of verse one. Ten seconds later, she commented on the words, too. And then Alley (the wonderful artist) piped up, asking if we knew the name.
None of us were familiar with it but I can tell you this: You Can Rest is bookmarked, saved and added to the playlist I cycle through when I canโt fall asleep.
It was one of those โthis showed up at just the right timeโ kinda things for each of us (at least, based on what Alley shared and knowing what I do of my friendโs story), and perhaps itโll be right on time for you, too.
P.s. If youโre local and looking for an artist who does watercolor tattoos, let me know and Iโll pass the info along.
โIโll hold it with you.โ
Grief and gratitude often go together.
Hope and heartache tend to hold hands.
Ecclesiastes 3 says thereโs a time and a season for everything . . . but sometimes we find ourselves in a season that seems to hold everything.
If youโre in a season of A Lot right now, hands full as you sit in the tension of both/andโme too. This article is for you and for me and for all of us navigating these Everything days.
You donโt need to โhave it all together.โย
There is One who is holding all things together, holding us together, and sometimes?
Sometimes He greets us at the door.
This season is stretching on. The path forward isnโt clear and we donโt know whatโs next. But Iโm resting in this as I reach for a bright dress, choosing to dance through the wait:
For everything there is a season, and the unchanging God will be with us in every one. Our circumstances donโt change His character and although our Right Now might be a lot, His hands are not too full.
We have a God who doesnโt tease, who sees the end from the beginning and has promised to bring us all the way Home. No matter what tomorrow brings, He will carry us through.
This is the best timeline.
Are you familiar with Katy Goes Creating? I stumbled across her poem Still A Good Book earlier this week and promptly fell down the rabbit hole of this new-to-me Instagram account. Tap through and be sure to click on the arrows to read the full poem (and the Scripture that inspired her words).
Wait wait, one moreโposted just a few minutes ago:
This isnโt a โnew findโ but Iโm honestly so in love with Better Things Candle Company. Claire is a Jesus-loving, funny, kind, super talented candlemaker and I have 30+ of her candles ๐ ๐
